A poetic film about the Wadden Sea as one living, breathing organism.
About the film
The Wadden Sea is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the largest connected wetlands in the world. Silence of the Tides follows the rhythm of the tides and the seasons, and shows its contrasts: life and death, storm and stillness, the crowd and the individual.
The film has no narration and no interviews. Water, wind, mist and light tell the story, and with it the story of the fragile relationship between people and nature. Silence of the Tides was nominated for two Golden Calves, won the Natourale for Best Film and received a Crystal Film award for more than 10,000 visitors.
