Máximapark

How an area full of greenhouses grew into a living landscape on the edge of Utrecht.

2025Cinema film83 minUtrecht

About the film

Máximapark in Utrecht used to be greenhouse land. Filmmaker Hans den Hartog spent more than three years following how the area changes: from the history of the greenhouses and Roman finds in the soil to rare plants and animals, and the volunteers who look after the park every day.

As DOP I shot most of the footage. The film premiered on 12 October 2025 to a sold-out Podium Hoge Woerd and then screened at Pathé Utrecht Leidsche Rijn, with Q&As with the director. The film is in Dutch.
